Kovalam

Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. It has been a favourite haunt of tourists since the 1930s. Varkala

Varkala is the only region in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. These Cenozoic sedimentary formation cliffs are a unique geological feature on the otherwise flat Kerala coast, and are known among geologists as Varkala Formation.

Chowara

Chowara is a picturesque beach a fishing hamlet located near Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram district. It is said that the sea recedes from the coast and does not eat into the beach during the monsoon. The Azhimalathara Beach nearby is an interesting place to visit.

Poovar

Poovar is located about 35 km from Thiruvananthapuram, Poovar drains Neyyar River into Arabian Sea. During monsoon, Neyyar River carries sand and mud and mineral deposits to Poovar, resulting in the formation of an estuary. The crowning glory of Poovar is its serene backwaters and the mangroves flourishing in them.
